Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan Sign Theater Cooperation Deal to Boost Cultural Ties

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy has said that Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan signed a new agreement to enhance creative collaboration between their national theaters, in a move aimed at deepening cultural ties and fostering mutual artistic growth.

The official signing ceremony brought together key cultural figures, including Ilham Elkhan Ogly Askerov, Director of the Azerbaijan Theater; Javid Zeynalov, Head of the Literary and Dramatic Department; and Asylbek Ozubekov, Director of the Kyrgyz National Drama Theater, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.

During the meeting, the delegations exchanged views on the historical development of theater in both countries, shared insights into artistic methodologies, and discussed opportunities for joint stage productions. Plans were also outlined to promote long-term cultural exchanges and collaborative projects between the two nations’ theatrical communities.

According to the ministry, the agreement is a meaningful step forward in building cultural bridges and expanding people-to-people ties between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan. It is also expected to serve as a catalyst for the development of contemporary theater, while preserving and celebrating the rich theatrical traditions of both countries.

"This partnership reflects our shared commitment to cultural diplomacy and the transformative power of the performing arts in bringing nations closer together," the ministry noted.

The agreement is part of a broader effort by both governments to support cultural initiatives and deepen cooperation in the fields of literature, drama, and the arts more broadly.
