Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan to Hold Intergovernmental Commission Meeting in Baku This December

Baku is set to host the next meeting of the Kyrgyzstan-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation in December this year.

The decision was discussed last week during a meeting between Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov and Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov in Baku, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

According to the ministry, the talks focused on the activities of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund and preparations for the sixth session of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Both ministers noted the steady growth of trade and economic relations between the two countries and emphasized the need to take additional steps to expand mutual trade, which currently amounts to $7.7 million, according to Kyrgyz statistics.

Sydykov also expressed interest in deepening transport and logistics cooperation and making better use of the two countries’ transit potential.

The previous (fifth) session of the Intergovernmental Commission was held in Kyrgyzstan in July 2023.
