Kyrgyzstan Faces Possible Fuel Price Spike Amid Rising Wholesale Costs

Fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan could be on the rise as wholesale costs surge, prompting officials to consider temporary tax and excise relief to stabilize the market.

Kanatbek Eshatov, head of the Association of Oil Traders, said that wholesale fuel prices have already jumped 25-30%, pushing the cost of diesel to 100-103 soms per liter and AI-92 gasoline to 78-81 soms per liter - excluding profits, salaries, and other operational expenses, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Retail prices have stayed stable thanks to older, cheaper stock, but these reserves are almost gone. Maintaining current prices will be increasingly difficult,” Eshatov warned.

Currently, taxes and excise duties account for around 25% of the final fuel price. Temporarily suspending these, along with labeling fees and road fund contributions, could help prevent a sudden spike at gas stations.
