A Kyrgyz delegation paid a visit to the German cities of Berlin and Bonn from July 8 to 11.
The visit took place within the framework of the UN Global Program for Protecting Vulnerable Targets from Terrorist Threats, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
The delegation included representatives of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Berlin.
During the working visit, the delegation from Kyrgyzstan learned about Germany's experience in protecting critical infrastructure, including mechanisms for interdepartmental cooperation, public-private partnerships, risk management and the use of modern technologies to increase their resilience to terrorist threats.
In particular, the architecture of Germany's security system to counter terrorist threats was presented, including the legislative framework and the role of various levels of government and the private sector, as well as the use of artificial intelligence to monitor threats. During meetings at the headquarters of the German Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Office for Information Security of Germany, an in-depth exchange of views was held on the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as countering cyber threats.
The current challenges facing special agencies in the field of national and public security were discussed in detail, including the transnational nature of terrorist threats and the spread of radical ideologies. Representatives of German law enforcement agencies discussed in detail the measures taken to prevent terrorist attacks, the system for monitoring suspicious persons and approaches to the deradicalization of citizens.
In order to study practical experience in organizing work to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure facilities, the power grid operator 50Hertz, the Federal Association of Energy and Water Management, and Berlin-Brandenburg Airport were visited.
The event was aimed at exchanging best practices of European countries, expanding international cooperation and strengthening the capacity of the Kyrgyz Republic's departments.
