Kyrgyzstan Imposes School Quarantine Amid Flu Surge

Kyrgyzstan has moved dozens of schools and kindergartens to remote learning and temporary quarantine as flu and acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) cases continue rising.

According to the Health Ministry’s disease prevention and sanitary control department, schools are permitted to switch to online classes without prior approval - they only need to notify the Enlightenment Ministry, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Educational institutions have intensified sanitary measures to curb the spread of infections.

In total, 207 schools have shifted to distance learning, while 214 kindergartens are temporarily under quarantine across the country.

Earlier, health officials reported that the H3N2 flu strain has become the dominant seasonal virus in Kazakhstan.
