Kyrgyzstan Launches Coin Commemorating Ancient Tushoo Kesuu

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has released a collectible silver coin celebrating the Tushoo Kesuu ritual, part of the “Kyrgyz Customs and Ceremonies” series.

The coin goes on sale from December 8, 2025 at 6,940 soms, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Tushoo Kesuu, or “cutting the fetters,” is an ancient ceremony held when a child takes their first steps, symbolizing happiness and confidence for the child’s future.

The coin’s design features a child taking independent steps with cut fetters, parents on the left, and a yurt and children racing on the right. The inscription “Tushoo Kesuu” appears at the top, the National Bank said.

The release aims to promote Kyrgyz national customs and traditions, following the country’s recent launch of its first gold-backed stablecoin.
