Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia Celebrate 30 Years of Friendship and Cooperation

Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia have marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with high-level talks and renewed commitments to deepen political, economic, and cultural ties.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh have held substantive discussions during the Mongolian leader’s official state visit to Kyrgyzstan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

The two presidents reviewed key sectors of cooperation, including politics, trade, economy, transport, and agriculture, while placing particular emphasis on advancing digitalization, enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and promoting tourism.

In his address, President Japarov underscored the deep historical and cultural bonds linking the two nations.

“Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia share millennia-old nomadic traditions, spiritual values, and a profound respect for nature. As heirs to great nomadic civilizations, our rich cultural heritage transcends borders. We see ourselves reflected in each other’s yurts, felt crafts, epic tales, and nomadic lifestyles,” he stated.

President Japarov further noted that this shared heritage fosters a unique climate of trust that underpins their bilateral relations.

“Our current dialogue rests on this strong foundation - characterized by openness, equality, and mutual respect. Strengthening cooperation with Mongolia remains a top priority in Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy,” he affirmed, expressing optimism that the visit would invigorate political dialogue, broaden economic ties, and deepen cultural and humanitarian collaboration.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, President Khürelsükh highlighted the visit as a timely occasion to evaluate three decades of diplomatic relations, review the implementation of prior agreements, and chart new avenues for practical economic cooperation.

“For Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan is a key partner in Central Asia and serves as a vital bridge connecting the region. We are committed to fostering mutually beneficial cooperation across all sectors, particularly trade and economic development,” he remarked.

He also noted the steady progress of their partnership since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, both regionally and internationally. The Mongolian president welcomed the recent intensification of political dialogue and the dynamic expansion of economic cooperation.

Concluding the talks, President Khürelsükh expressed confidence that the visit would sustain positive momentum and result in the signing of new agreements aimed at strengthening the legal framework of bilateral relations and expanding joint efforts in agriculture, culture, and science.
