Kyrgyzstan Plans 2026 Pay Hike for Teachers and Health Staff

Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev has said that Kyrgyzstan plans to allocate 58 billion soms ($4.851 billion) in 2026 to raise salaries for medical workers, teachers, and cultural sector employees.

Speaking at a joint meeting of committees of the Jogorku Kenesh, Kasymaliev said the pay rise will be carried out in two stages - on April 1 and October 1, 2026, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

“The budget already includes 38 billion soms ($3.178 billion), and we plan to increase salaries by at least 50 per cent,” he noted, adding that wages for some municipal and government employees will also be raised starting in October.

The planned increases are part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen social sectors, improve working conditions, and enhance the attractiveness of public service professions across the country.
