Kyrgyzstan has announced a reduction in the quotas for its citizens seeking medical treatment in Türkiye, raising concerns about access to healthcare abroad.
During a session of the parliamentary Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Migration, MP Gulya Kozhokulova highlighted the declining numbers of Kyrgyz citizens receiving treatment under bilateral healthcare agreements with Türkiye, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The committee reviewed a report on the activities of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Türkiye for 2024-2025, presented by Ruslan Kazakbaev, Kyrgyzstan’s ambassador to Türkiye.
Kozhokulova noted that while 30 citizens benefited from Turkish medical programs in 2021 and 86 in 2024, the number dropped sharply to just 48 in 2025. She called for more active diplomatic efforts to increase quotas and ensure continued access to free medical treatment under the Uzbekistan-Türkiye healthcare cooperation agreement.
