Tourism accounted for 4.3 per cent of Kyrgyzstan’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of 2025, marking an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024, when it contributed 3.9 per cent.
If current trends continue, the sector is expected to surpass 4 per cent of GDP for the first time since 2019 by the end of the year, signaling a strong recovery and growth in the industry, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Kyrgyzstan now has 144,000 registered tourism-related businesses, reflecting a 6 per cent increase over the previous year. Authorities say these figures demonstrate stable development and expansion of the tourism sector, highlighting its growing role in the national economy.
