A farewell ceremony has been held at the Sports Palace in Bishkek to honor Kyrgyzstan’s national youth team ahead of their participation in the third Asian Youth Games, set to take place from October 22 to 31 in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Edil Baisalov, attended the ceremony and officially handed over the national flag to team captain Ulan Mairambekov and athlete Dominika Chernetskaya, symbolizing the nation’s support and encouragement, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Speaking to the athletes, Baisalov expressed pride and confidence in their potential, stating, “As I hand you the flag today, I feel immense pride and confidence in the future of our sports. Many victories lie ahead, and it is you who will carry our nation’s hopes to the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane.”
Reflecting on Kyrgyzstan’s growing presence in regional sports, he highlighted, “At the 2013 Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, Kyrgyzstan was represented by just 14 athletes. Today, that number has grown to 145 - a clear demonstration of the rising strength and potential of our diverse nation.”
The Kyrgyz delegation to the Games comprises 194 members, including 145 athletes competing across 17 sports disciplines, supported by 38 coaches, specialists, medical personnel, and representatives from sports federations.
