The number of officially registered unemployed citizens in Kyrgyzstan is dropping every year.
Officials attribute the decline primarily to the rise in informal employment, as more people take on seasonal jobs or work without official documentation, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Saadatkul Mukanbetova, a leading specialist in the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration’s employment promotion department, said that another key factor was the introduction of the social contract in 2023.
“Unemployed citizens began receiving child support payments from the state. This also contributed to the decrease in the number of officially registered unemployed. Last year, from January to October, we had over 70,000 registered unemployed; now it’s around 50,000,” she said.
At the same time, interest in state employment services is growing: the ministry has received around 120,000 consultations from citizens seeking job-related assistance.
Earlier, it was reported that South Korea added more than 190,000 jobs in October, continuing the country’s strong employment trend this year.
