Kyrgyzstan Sees Surge in Deadly Heart Conditions Among Young Adults

Life-threatening heart conditions are becoming increasingly common among young adults in Kyrgyzstan, a leading medical expert has warned, calling for urgent public health intervention.

Speaking ahead of World Heart Day, Talantbek Sooronbaev, Director of the M. Mirrakhimov National Center for Cardiology and Therapy, said that severe cardiovascular diseases-including heart attacks and arrhythmias-are now frequently diagnosed in people as young as 20, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

“Cardiovascular disease accounts for more than 52 per cent of all deaths in Kyrgyzstan, and that figure has remained consistently high for the past three decades,” Sooronbaev stated, citing official statistics. He described the rising incidence of heart disease among the country’s youth as a “disturbing trend” with long-term implications for public health.

Sooronbaev emphasized the need for early detection, prevention, and lifestyle education, especially targeting younger populations. He urged increased awareness campaigns and stronger public health measures to promote cardiovascular wellness from an early age.

His comments come as global studies increasingly link childhood risk factors, such as high blood pressure, to adult heart disease, reinforcing the importance of proactive intervention.

World Heart Day, marked annually on September 29, is observed in over 100 countries to raise awareness about the global burden of heart disease and encourage action toward healthier living.
