Director of the Kyrgyz Tourism Department Erdenet Kasymov has announced that Kyrgyzstan aims to boost the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP to 7 per cent by 2030.
Kasymov noted that tourism accounted for 4.3 percent of the country’s GDP in the first half of 2025, up from 3.9 per cent in the same period last year, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
He emphasized that winter and mountain tourism remain strategic priorities for the country.
A key project supported by the government is the Ala-Too Resort ski complex, described by Kasymov as a modern facility on a scale comparable to Kumtor. The resort is expected to host up to 850,000 visitors annually, create around 4,000 jobs, and contribute significantly to the state budget.
Construction is also ongoing at Baytik Resort in Chui Region and Chatkal Resort in Jalal-Abad Region, projects designed to expand regional tourism potential and provide new opportunities for recreation and employment.
