Kyrgyzstan to Build State-of-the-Art Perinatal Center in Osh

The Kyrgyz Health Ministry has signed a contract with Chinese construction company China Road to build a modern perinatal center at the Osh Interregional Combined Clinical Hospital.

The construction is expected to take approximately 2.5 years, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

“We expect the contractor to fully comply with all technical requirements and quality standards. The work must meet the highest standards, and the facility should be completed within the agreed timeframe. The ministry will continuously monitor construction progress,” said Manas Toktomuratov, first deputy minister of health.

The new center will have 150 beds, including 60 postpartum beds, 38 for pregnancy-related pathologies, 7 adult intensive care beds, 5 recovery beds, 28 neonatal intensive care beds, and 16 beds for joint mother-and-child stays. The maternity ward will accommodate 12 mothers.

Officials say the facility will greatly improve obstetric, gynecological, and neonatal care in the region, ease the burden on existing medical capacities, and strengthen the regional patient routing system.

The project is being implemented under the framework of a financial cooperation agreement between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Germany, signed on December 13, 2018.
