Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Kyrgyz Presidential Administration Sagynbek Abdumutalip has announced that Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov will visit New York City from September 22 to 25 to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During his working visit, President Japarov is scheduled to deliver a speech during the General Debate of the Assembly, where he will address major global and regional challenges and outline Kyrgyzstan’s position on key international issues, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
In addition to the General Debate, the Kyrgyz leader will participate in an open debate at the UN Security Council focused on “Artificial Intelligence: International Security and Peace,” a timely topic amid growing international discussions on the role of AI in geopolitics. He will also attend a high-level special event on climate change, underscoring Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to sustainable development and global environmental cooperation.
On the sidelines of the session, President Japarov is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and leaders from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. These discussions will center on deepening international partnerships and advancing Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy objectives.
The visit comes at a time of heightened international focus on multilateralism, climate action, and digital transformation, all of which are expected to feature prominently in President Japarov’s agenda.
