A World Health Organization (WHO) mission has kicked off in Kyrgyzstan to help shape a national strategy for the prevention of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).
The expert delegation includes top specialists from WHO Europe, Geneva headquarters, and regional offices, covering public health, NCDs, digital health, and health economics, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The visit features high-level meetings, a workshop on NCD strategy integration, site visits to explore best practices in primary care, and a political dialogue with key ministries and government bodies.
Health Minister Erkin Checheybaev emphasized that NCD prevention is a state policy priority, and the strategy will span multiple sectors, from health and education to the economy and social protection.
“Kyrgyzstan is committed to adapting global WHO best practices,” said Checheybaev, noting a strong focus on family doctors, nurses, and community health services in combating NCDs.
