Afghanistan is preparing to deepen economic ties with Russia through a series of potential agreements focused on energy, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
The deals are expected to be discussed during the upcoming Russia-Islamic World Forum, scheduled to take place in Kazan, Russia, from May 13 to 15, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Head of the Russian Business Center in Afghanistan Rustam Khabibullin said that three key agreements are under consideration: supplies of Russian oil products and agricultural goods to Afghanistan, as well as an investment contract involving a Russian construction company aimed at developing Afghan infrastructure.
The forum has traditionally served as a platform to expand economic cooperation between Russia and countries of the Islamic world.
Earlier, in August 2025, Afghanistan’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum Hidayatullah Badri attended a similar energy forum in Kazan, where he called on Russian companies to invest in Afghanistan’s energy sector.
