A tragic fire broke out in a multi-story apartment building in Çankaya district of Türkiye’s Ankara, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a child, and leaving 20 others hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
The fire is reported to have started on the fourth floor of the building, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.
Thick smoke quickly engulfed several floors, causing panic among residents and hindering evacuation efforts. Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene and began rescue and containment operations.
Medical teams treated dozens of residents for smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide exposure, with 20 individuals requiring hospitalization. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims.
The Ankara Prosecutor’s Office has launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
