A high-level European Union delegation led by the bloc's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, is set to visit Türkiye on June 30, just days before the NATO summit in Ankara.
The delegation will also include European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Magnus Brunner, The Caspian Post reports via Hurriyet Daily News.
During the visit, the EU officials are expected to hold talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, and Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
The meetings come ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for July 7-8 in Ankara and are expected to cover a broad range of issues, including developments in the Middle East and Ukraine, transport connectivity, EU enlargement, migration, and visa liberalization.
The visit will provide an opportunity to reassess EU-Türkiye relations in light of Türkiye's status as both an EU candidate country and a NATO ally. The discussions are also expected to explore new avenues for cooperation amid an increasingly unstable geopolitical environment.
