Kazakhstan to Increase Oil Exports through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline

Kazakhstan plans to boost its oil exports via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, as stated by Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu following his meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Astana.

"We are successfully implementing our agreements on supply of Kazakhstan’s energy resources to the global market through Azerbaijan. 1.4 million tons of oil were transport through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline last year. In the future, we plan to increase the transit of Kazakh oil up to 2.2 million tons per annum,” Nurtleu said, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform.

The Kazakh Minister highlighted that Kazakhstan, in collaboration with its Azerbaijani partners, continues stable supplies of uranium abroad.

“The transportation of Kazakhstan’s energy resources and implementation of infrastructure projects through the Caspian Sea serve as an important link between the South Caucasia and Central Asia,” Nurtleu added.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov arrived in Astana today for an official visit. As part of the visit, he has held talks behind the closed doors and in extended formats with the Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu.
