A suspected rotavirus outbreak has sickened tourists at the Dombay Ski Resort in Karachay-Cherkessia, Russia, leaving many visitors with stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.
Some fell ill just days after arrival, while others experienced symptoms only after returning home, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Julia, a tourist from Moscow, said that she and her boyfriend became ill two days into their vacation. They are currently confined to their hotel room, self-treating, and have requested refunds for their ski passes. Another visitor, Valeria from Moscow, described a similar experience: while her friends recovered quickly, she suffered two days of diarrhea and vomiting, only feeling better after returning home.
Tourists suspect a rotavirus outbreak at the resort, noting that many others are reporting similar symptoms and recovering at home.
This follows a similar incident in January at the Sheregesh Ski Resort in Kemerovo Region, where over ten visitors suffered nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and headaches during the first half of the month.
