Russia and China have signed a major declaration on building a multipolar world, reinforcing what both sides describe as a deepening strategic partnership amid shifting global power dynamics.
The agreement was reached during high-level talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing following both narrow-format and expanded negotiations, The Caspian Post reports via Anadolu Agency.
The two sides signed 20 cooperation documents during the visit, covering a wide range of areas including political coordination, trade, energy, and long-term economic collaboration.
A key outcome of the talks was the declaration on the formation of a multipolar world order, with both leaders emphasizing closer alignment on global governance and international institutions. Xi Jinping said relations between China and Russia are reaching “new heights,” while warning against what he described as a return to a “jungle world” in global politics.
Both sides pledged to defend the authority of the United Nations, oppose hegemony, and support each other on core national interests, underscoring their shared geopolitical stance.
President Putin described Russia-China cooperation as a model for modern international relations, highlighting what he called a warm, constructive, and friendly atmosphere during the talks. He also noted that the two countries have built a resilient trade system increasingly insulated from global market pressures, with ongoing efforts to expand settlements in rubles and yuan.
Energy cooperation also featured prominently, with Russia reaffirming its commitment to stable energy supplies to China and ongoing collaboration in nuclear power projects, including the construction of reactor units at Chinese nuclear plants.
In addition, Moscow and Beijing agreed to extend their mutual visa-free arrangement until December 31, 2027, a move expected to further boost tourism, business travel, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
