Ukraine Accuses Russia of Forcibly Taking 50 Civilians in Sumy

Ukraine has accused Russia of forcibly taking 50 civilians from the border village of Hrabovske in Sumy region, describing the act as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

Sumy governor Dmytro Lubinets said the residents were detained on December 18 without access to communication and later transported to Russia, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.

“Such actions are a gross violation of international humanitarian law - a violation of the laws and customs of war, unlawful deprivation of liberty and forced deportation of the civilian population,” Lubinets said on Telegram. Authorities are still verifying further details.

Russia has not yet responded to the allegations.
