A major fire has broken out at a zoo in Vladivostok, Russia, engulfing a building that housed monkeys, snakes, crocodiles, and other animals, sparking urgent rescue efforts and fears of casualties.
The blaze erupted in the facility known as the “Keeper’s House,” where several species were being kept at the time. Zoo staff managed to release some animals before the fire spread, but others may have been trapped inside as the flames intensified, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Firefighters Struggle to Contain Fast-Moving Blaze
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, deploying eight fire engines to combat the fire. Despite their efforts, the blaze has proven difficult to control, with flames continuing to spread through parts of the structure.
Medical teams have also been dispatched to assist in the rescue operation and provide aid if needed.
Fate of Animals and Staff Still Unclear
Authorities are still working to determine the number of animals affected and whether any zoo staff were injured. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire or the full extent of the damage.
