Russia Launches Investigation into Attacks on Uzbek Migrants in Vladivostok

Authorities in Russia’s Primorsky territory have opened a criminal investigation following a series of violent attacks targeting Uzbek migrant workers in Vladivostok.

The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Primorsky territory reported that the incidents occurred on September 10, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Preliminary findings indicate that a group of reportedly intoxicated teenagers vandalized a parked vehicle, sprayed an aerosol can inside it, and assaulted the driver of a cargo truck without apparent cause.

The suspects then broke into a 24-hour store on Khabarovskaya Street, attacking a man in front of the shop assistant and customers. Subsequently, they assaulted a taxi driver and passenger while creating further chaos on the streets, using stones and other improvised objects, significantly disrupting public order.

Authorities have identified all involved individuals: one has been detained, while two remain at large. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code, which covers hooliganism. Investigators continue to gather evidence to establish the full circumstances of the attacks.

The Interior Ministry of Primorsky territory is providing operational support for the investigation, which is being overseen by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok.
