On the eve of the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers Preservation, scheduled to take place in Dushanbe from May 29 to May 31, 2025, and in celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a scientific and theoretical workshop was held at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research.
The event brought together Ambassador of Tajikistan to UAE Ashrafjon Gulov, representatives of government institutions, academics, researchers, and members of the local media, The Caspian Post reports citing Khovar.
The workshop featured three thematic sessions:
In his keynote address, the Head of Mission highlighted Tajikistan’s prominent role in the global dialogue on water and climate challenges, the goals and significance of the upcoming Dushanbe Conference on Glaciers, and the country’s achievements in fostering a strong, multifaceted partnership with the UAE over the past three decades.
He also paid tribute to the enduring legacy of renowned Tajik personalities such as Ismoil Somoni, Abuabdullo Rudaki, Abulqosim Firdavsi, Hofiz Shirozi, Jaloluddin Balkhi, and Bobojon Ghafurov, emphasizing their contributions to science, culture, and the advancement of human civilization.
Participants viewed historical and cultural video segments and short documentaries in Tajik, English, and Arabic, followed by an interactive dialogue and Q&A session that fostered further exchange of ideas.
At the conclusion of the event, dignitaries were presented with Arabic-language editions of the book “The Tajiks in the Mirror of History: From the Aryans to the Samanids” by the President Emomali Rahmon, as a gesture of cultural diplomacy and a symbol of shared values and historical understanding.
