Dried Apricots Generate Record $30 Million in Tajikistan

Nearly $30 million in revenue - dried apricots have emerged as Tajikistan’s most profitable agricultural export, outpacing all other farm products and reinforcing the country’s growing reputation in the global dried fruit market.

Exports of dried apricots - locally known as kuraga - generated almost $30 million in income, making them the top-earning agricultural commodity, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Fruit assortments and fresh grapes also ranked among the top three export leaders, highlighting strong international demand for Tajikistan’s produce. Other popular items included dried peaches and apples, further strengthening the country’s dried fruit portfolio.

Overall, Tajikistan’s total exports during the reporting period reached $240 million. However, imports significantly exceeded that figure, totaling $2.232 billion - underscoring the country’s ongoing trade imbalance despite strong performance in select agricultural sectors.
