Rail travel between Russia's capital Moscow and Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe could soon be back on track, as officials explore restoring a suspended passenger route.
Discussions are underway among the relevant railway companies to revive the connection, which was halted during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The move would not introduce a new line but instead bring back a previously operating route. One of the key links - the Dushanbe-Volgograd service - had effectively served as an extension toward Moscow before disruptions forced changes.
Tajikistan is now considering ways to strengthen transport ties with Russia, potentially following a model already implemented by Uzbekistan in restoring regional rail connectivity.
