Russia and Tajikistan are expanding collaboration in education, focusing on joint programs and support for research centers.
The topic was discussed during a meeting between Russia’s Minister of Science and Higher Education, Valery Falkov, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Education and Science, Rahimjon Saidzoda, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
They explored ways to develop higher education ties, including academic exchanges, student and faculty mobility, and professional internships to enhance skills and education quality.
The ministers emphasized that educational cooperation between the two countries has a strong foundation, paving the way for continued joint programs, innovative projects, and backing of research centers. Both sides expressed readiness to further strengthen these initiatives and expand scientific and educational links, aiming to bolster friendship and sustainable development in higher education and science.
Currently, around 27,500 Tajik students study in Russia, with over 8,000 admitted this academic year, including 1,000 on state-funded quotas. Russian Ambassador to Dushanbe Semyon Grigoryev previously noted that out of 43,000 Tajik students studying abroad, more than 30,000 are enrolled in Russian universities.
