During the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has held important bilateral meetings with President of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong and President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to strengthen diplomatic ties and broaden cooperation across economic, social, and cultural sectors.

In discussions with the Vietnamese president, the leaders emphasized strengthening inter-parliamentary and interagency collaboration, boosting bilateral trade, and advancing industrial cooperation-particularly focusing on modernizing light industry technologies and agricultural development, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The meeting also highlighted opportunities to deepen partnerships in education, healthcare, cultural exchange, and tourism.

Later, President Rahmon met with the Portuguese president, where they explored ways to expand the legal framework governing bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, investment, and economic cooperation. Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in academic exchanges, healthcare, culture, and tourism. The Tajik presidential office noted the promising potential of combining Tajikistan’s abundant natural and human resources, including green energy and rare minerals, with Portugal’s advanced technologies and financial expertise.
