Rector of Avicenna Tajik State Medical University Mukhiddin Nuriddin has said that starting from the 2026-2027 academic year, a new faculty for training military doctors will begin operating at the university.
He noted that from September, 100 applicants-90 men and 10 women-will be admitted to the new faculty through the National Testing Center, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Training will be fully state-funded, and graduates will be eligible for employment in military units and law enforcement agencies, strengthening the country’s healthcare capacity in the security sector.
The rector also said the university has obtained licenses for two new specialties-Medical Psychology and Clinical Biochemistry-with enrollment set to begin in the upcoming academic year. These programs aim to meet growing demand for modern, interdisciplinary medical expertise.
During the event, officials highlighted the use of medical simulators-specialized devices and digital programs that replicate real clinical situations. Such technologies allow students to practice medical procedures and manage complications in a safe environment, significantly improving patient safety and hands-on training quality.
At present, the university operates five faculties, 63 departments, including 37 clinical ones, 12 centers, and a Medical Research Institute. It also maintains partnerships with 101 educational, scientific, and medical institutions abroad.
In 2025, a total of 307 students from 11 countries graduated from the university, a figure that, according to the institution, reflects the growing international competitiveness of medical education in Tajikistan.
