Tajikistan’s Economy Grows 8.2% Despite Global Challenges, IMF Praises Progress

Tajikistan’s economy is showing remarkable resilience amid global turbulence - with GDP growth reaching 8.2 per cent in the first nine months of 2025.

Economic Development Minister Zavqi Zavqizoda announced that the country’s GDP totaled 117.8 billion somonis from January to September, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Growth is expected to stay strong, with forecasts of 8.2 per cent in 2025 and 8.5 per cent in 2026.

During a meeting in Dushanbe, IMF mission head Matthew Gertner commended Tajikistan’s economic progress and reaffirmed the Fund’s readiness to deepen cooperation.

Zavqizoda credited high-level engagement between President Emomali Rahmon and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva for strengthening bilateral ties. He also thanked the IMF for raising Tajikistan’s growth outlook and called for support in expanding concessional borrowing to boost development and stability.

Both sides confirmed their commitment to continued partnership and sustainable economic growth.
