Tajikistan is taking a major step toward building its first-ever metro system.
It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with South Korea to push forward key development projects, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Following high-level talks, the Transport Ministry of Tajikistan and several South Korean companies agreed to begin work on three major transport initiatives:
Creation of a logistics center in the Kulyab free economic zone
A preliminary feasibility study for the Dushanbe Metro’s Route 2 (from the State Circus to the Eastern Gate)
Consultative support for the Working Group overseeing metro construction in the capital
These projects are slated to run from November 2025 to July 2026, marking a new stage in Tajikistan’s urban transport ambitions.
Earlier this year, the ministry unveiled the full development plan for the Dushanbe Metro, which is expected to include three lines linking the city center with its southern, northern, and eastern districts - significantly easing congestion and improving mobility.
