Turkmenistan Boosts Cultural, Education Cooperation with India

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has said that Turkmenistan is actively working to study, preserve, and promote shared cultural values with India, while also expanding cooperation in education.

Meredov made these remarks at a ceremonial reception marking the 76th Republic Day of India, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

“Cultural ties are an integral part of the Turkmenistan-India relations. We are carrying out active efforts to study, preserve, and enrich the shared cultural heritage of the Turkmen and Indian peoples and their contribution to universal human civilization,” Meredov noted.

He recalled that in 2024, a monument to renowned Indian writer, poet, composer, and public figure Rabindranath Tagore was unveiled at the Magtymguly Fragi cultural park in Ashgabat, underscoring the depth of cultural exchange between the two nations.

Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan holds India’s rich culture in high regard, particularly its music, cinema, and literature, and is strengthening cooperation in education. This includes collaboration under India’s Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme as well as scholarship initiatives offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

On behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Meredov conveyed warm congratulations to the Indian people on their national holiday.

He stressed that the Turkmenistan-India relations are rooted in ancient history, bound by strong civilizational links and a shared closeness of fundamental spiritual values-factors that continue to underpin the steady development of bilateral cooperation.
