Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani, has met with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Jamshid Abduzokirov, and his delegation to discuss expanding bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Key topics included increasing meat exports to Uzbekistan, establishing orchards in Andkhoy, Faryab Province, and collaboration on high-quality seed production, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Usmani highlighted the historical ties between the two countries and emphasized Afghanistan’s interest in strengthening economic partnership.
He noted that Afghanistan’s private sector has strong potential for meat production and export and proposed building large modern farms to ensure stable and organized exports.
Abduzokirov noted that trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has grown from $410 million to $610 million in recent years and reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to expand cooperation across the agricultural sector.
The Afghan ministry added that, with support from domestic and foreign investors, it plans to create favorable conditions for investment in various agricultural initiatives. Previously, both countries signed a memorandum of cooperation to support these efforts.
