Air Serbia Explores Direct Flights to Uzbekistan’

Air Serbia, the national airline of Serbia, is exploring the possibility of launching direct flights to Uzbekistan.

The carrier is currently evaluating two potential destinations - the capital city, Tashkent, and the historic city of Samarkand - as part of its ongoing route expansion strategy, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Serbia and Uzbekistan plan to strengthen bilateral trade and establish direct air connectivity, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said.

At a press conference following his talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 28 October, Vučić highlighted the “vast opportunities” for intergovernmental cooperation. He added that the documents signed during the meeting would lay the groundwork for a preferential trade agreement.

“I am hoping for an FTA in the future and an agreement on protection of investments and economic and trade cooperation,” Vučić stated.

The Serbian leader also announced that the country’s national airline, Air Serbia, intends to launch flights to Uzbekistan. The carrier recently began operating routes to Tbilisi and Baku.

Air Serbia is currently assessing the feasibility of launching flights from Belgrade to either Tashkent or Samarkand. A final decision will be made based on an analysis of each route’s potential, Vučić emphasized.

Following the talks, Uzbekistan and Serbia signed agreements on the mutual promotion and protection of investments, economic cooperation, and partnerships across several sectors, including tourism, healthcare, high technology, and artificial intelligence. A memorandum of understanding was also signed on labor migration.
