A specialized international freight train carrying 1,300 tons of high-quality coal coke has departed from Wuwei city in China’s Gansu province bound for Uzbekistan, marking the first international cargo train sent from Gansu in 2026.
The 47-car train is heading to Ablyk railway station in Uzbekistan. The shipment is valued at 4.06 million yuan, or approximately $580,000, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The train will exit China via the Khorgos border checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region before continuing westward. The journey is expected to take around nine days.
A representative of the Wuwei Bonded Logistics Center, Cao Ke, said the hub has been actively expanding its international logistics network in recent years, establishing six major logistics corridors linking Central Asia and Central Europe.
These routes now cover 22 countries and 46 cities and regions, helping turn the region’s geographic advantages into foreign trade growth opportunities. Cao noted that the launch of the new route strengthens a stable and efficient logistics channel, improving access for “Made in Gansu” products and other Chinese goods to Central Asian markets.
