In a remarkable and touching turn of events, a woman gave birth at the “Gafur Gulyam” metro station in Uzbekistan's Tashkent city, transforming an ordinary commute into an unforgettable moment.
The unexpected incident unfolded when an on-duty internal affairs officer at the station noticed the woman was in active labor. Acting swiftly, he alerted Naima Makhamadjanova, the station dispatcher responsible for overseeing train arrivals and departures, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
Makhamadjanova responded with exceptional calm and professionalism. Without hesitation, she stepped in to assist the woman, successfully delivering the baby on the platform. According to the report, she performed critical postnatal procedures, including cutting and tying the umbilical cord, and helping the newborn take its first breath.
Station staff immediately contacted emergency services and the woman’s family. An ambulance arrived within ten minutes. In the meantime, metro employees closely monitored the mother and child, providing comfort and ensuring their safety.
“The condition of both mother and newborn is stable. They were transported to a hospital for further medical care,” the metro staff confirmed.
The event has sparked widespread admiration for the swift, compassionate actions of Makhamadjanova and the metro team, turning a routine day on the underground into a moment of humanity and hope.
