UAE-based telecommunications giant Etisalat is exploring opportunities to launch several investment initiatives in Uzbekistan, including the potential establishment of data centers.
On May 13, MIIT Minister Laziz Kudratov met with Jasim Abdullah, Vice President of e& (Etisalat Group) from the UAE, to explore potential collaboration on the development of telecommunications and digital infrastructure in the country, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
The meeting covered investment prospects in local telecom companies, joint implementation of projects to deploy data centers, and broader investments in digital infrastructure.
As a result of the talks, both parties agreed to take concrete steps toward the joint implementation of the proposed projects.
In a separate meeting, Kudratov also held discussions with Elham Pourtangestani, CEO of UAE-based Envirol, on the possibility of constructing the first waste-to-biofuel plant in Central Asia. The parties identified specific steps for moving forward with the investment project.
