Uzbek Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, has met with New York City Mayor Eric Adams to discuss expanding cooperation in digital innovation, remote work, data centers, and IT talent development.
The meeting opened with a presentation on IT Park, showcasing Uzbekistan’s efforts to build a modern digital ecosystem, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
Shermatov highlighted recent reforms, key achievements, and upcoming plans, while also outlining the work of UZSOC and the Unified Integrator UZINFOCOM.
Both sides explored opportunities for new investments, tax incentives for tech companies, and ongoing initiatives to strengthen IT education - an important priority as Uzbekistan’s population continues to grow by more than one million people annually.
The rapid global shift toward remote work and automation since the pandemic was another key topic, with the participants noting the economic opportunities this trend opens for Uzbekistan.
Shermatov emphasized Uzbekistan’s multilingual talent pool - fluent in English, Russian, Arabic, German, Korean, and Japanese - giving the country a strong competitive edge in global outsourcing and service delivery.
The discussion also covered cooperation in IT services, data centers, logistics technologies, mobile platforms, and remote services. Plans for building large-scale data centers and forming partnerships with foreign companies for data exchange were highlighted.
Both sides agreed to strengthen the startup ecosystem, create more investor-friendly conditions, and support Uzbekistan’s growth as an international innovation hub. The country’s multicultural environment, they noted, continues to drive creativity and new ideas.
At the end of the meeting, Shermatov and Mayor Adams expressed readiness to jointly test new tech projects, introduce advanced digital solutions, and further expand bilateral cooperation in the digital sector.
