Uzbekistan's Navoi State University and South Korea's Calvin University have formalized a new partnership aimed at expanding academic and research cooperation.
The agreement was reached during talks between Navoi State University Rector Muhiddin Kalonov and Calvin University President Dr. Hwang Kun-Young, who discussed ways to build mutually beneficial ties between the two institutions, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Following the meeting, the universities signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and a Cooperation Agreement, paving the way for joint scientific research, international conferences, workshops, and academic exchanges.
A key outcome of the talks was the decision to establish a Sejong Institute at Navoi State University in 2026. The institute will focus on teaching the Korean language and culture, strengthening links with educational institutions in the Republic of Korea, and creating new international learning opportunities for students and faculty from both countries.
University officials described the visit as an important step toward expanding Navoi State University’s international partnerships, enhancing the quality of education and research, and boosting its global profile.
Earlier, China offered Kazakhstan 73 educational grants, highlighting growing regional interest in academic cooperation.
