Agricultural workers from Uzbekistan have gained a new opportunity for legal and stable seasonal employment in South Korea, following the signing of a labor migration agreement regulating seasonal work in the agricultural sector.
The agreement was signed in Buan County between Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency and a delegation from Andijan Region. The document complies with requirements set by South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, particularly regarding the clear designation of sending and receiving territories, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The agreement establishes transparent rules for recruiting and managing seasonal workers, introduces safeguards against illegal stay, and guarantees compliance with labor standards and migration regulations. South Korean officials emphasized that the deal strengthens mutual trust between the two countries and helps build a lawful and sustainable employment system in agriculture.
The initiative has received wide coverage in South Korean media, which note that a state-managed seasonal labor system will reduce the burden on employers while ensuring stable and protected working conditions for foreign workers.
The agreement is seen as a significant step toward legal and safe employment for Uzbek citizens abroad, especially amid discussions in South Korea about the possible suspension of visa issuance for Uzbek nationals due to a rise in illegal migration cases.
