Uzbekistan took a significant step toward expanding its renewable energy sector and modernizing its power infrastructure by signing three key agreements with China Energy International Group.
The deals were formalized between China Energy and Wind and Solarshine for Electricity Distribution Panels Manufacturing LLC, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The agreements pave the way for several major projects:
A 500-megawatt wind power plant will be constructed in the Peshku district of Bukhara region, positioning it as one of Central Asia’s largest wind farms. This facility will provide clean electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes.
A consultancy contract supports the development of a 100-megawatt energy storage system in Tashkent, aimed at enhancing grid stability and facilitating more effective use of renewable sources.
An EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract was also signed, covering the design, supply, and construction of the projects.
These initiatives are integral to Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to transition toward a low-carbon economy and fulfill its sustainable development objectives.
