Uzbekistan Aims to Join WTO by 2026

Azizbek Urunov, the special representative of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on World Trade Organization (WTO) issues, has said that Uzbekistan is targeting 2026 for the completion of its WTO accession.

Urunov confirmed that Uzbekistan has signed a final protocol with Russia, marking the completion of bilateral negotiations on market access as part of its WTO accession process, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

“During President Mirziyoyev’s working visit to Saint Petersburg, we signed the protocol with Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, finalizing our bilateral talks on WTO market access. While some work remains, we are now fully focused on advancing multilateral negotiations, completing necessary legislative updates, and successfully joining the WTO next year,” Urunov said.

The move highlights Uzbekistan’s commitment to integrating into the global trade system and expanding economic cooperation with international partners.
