Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, has met with Japan’s newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Kenji Hirata, who began his mission in October 2025.
Both sides praised the steady growth of the Uzbekistan-Japan relations, reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment and economic development, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
During the meeting, officials pointed to the positive momentum in bilateral trade and the continued increase in Japanese investment in Uzbekistan’s economy. They highlighted the strong presence of Japanese companies in major national projects, especially in healthcare, transport, infrastructure, energy and ICT.
Key joint initiatives currently underway include:
Construction of modern medical facilities
Expansion and modernization of transport infrastructure
Upgrading Uzbekistan’s telecommunications network
Development of solar and wind plants with a combined capacity of 2,500 MW
The two parties also reviewed preparations for upcoming bilateral events tied to the “Central Asia + Japan” Summit, scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
