Uzbekistan has launched a new $20 million plant in Andijan Region to manufacture equipment for small hydropower plants, as the country expands its renewable energy infrastructure.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the newly built facility. The plant is expected to reach full production capacity in 2027, according to UzA.

Once fully operational, it will produce 100 small hydropower plant complexes annually, with a combined value of 70 billion soums. The facility will also manufacture equipment for micro-hydropower plants and other related products.

The company plans to export its equipment to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Annual export revenues are expected to reach $3 million.

The project is part of Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to expand small-scale hydropower generation and develop domestic production of energy-sector equipment.
