Uzbekistan’s Tourism Soars in Early 2025 with Turkmenistan Among Leading Countries

Uzbekistan has experienced a sharp rise in international tourist arrivals in early 2025, with Turkmenistan emerging as the sixth largest source of foreign visitors.

Between January and May 2025, a total of 142,500 Turkmen citizens visited Uzbekistan - a significant increase of more than 2.5 times compared to the 53,800 visitors from Turkmenistan recorded during the same period last year, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

The top five countries by number of visitors to Uzbekistan during this period were:

Kyrgyzstan - 1.28 million

Tajikistan - 993,700

Kazakhstan - 889,600

Russia - 334,300

Afghanistan - 199,200

In total, Uzbekistan received 4.2 million international tourists in the first five months of 2025, marking a 48.2 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
