Uzbekistan Sets New Summer Electricity Consumption Record

Uzbekistan has recorded a new summer electricity consumption record as soaring temperatures continue to drive up demand, the country's Ministry of Energy announced.

According to the ministry, daily electricity generation reached 281.5 million kWh on July 13, while consumption totaled 278.6 million kWh, surpassing the previous summer record by 6 million kWh, or 2.2%, The Caspian Post reports.

The previous record was set on July 18, 2025, when temperatures climbed to 40 degrees Celsius in the country's central regions and between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius in desert areas. Similar weather conditions were recorded on July 12.

The Ministry of Energy said forecasts indicate that the hot weather will continue in the coming days, raising expectations of even higher electricity demand and the possibility of new records for system load and power consumption.

To maintain a stable electricity supply, energy companies have switched to an enhanced operating mode, while round-the-clock emergency response teams have been deployed to quickly address any faults in the power grid.

The ministry also warned that temporary power outages may occur in some regions due to technical problems within the electricity network. It urged consumers to use electricity responsibly by switching off unused electrical appliances during peak demand periods to help reduce pressure on the grid.
