Uzbekistan, Slovakia Agree to Boost Trade in Textiles, Leather, and Agricultural Goods

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini have agreed to deepen trade and economic ties, with a focus on expanding the supply of Uzbek textile, leather, and fruit and vegetable products to Slovakia.

The agreement was reached during President Pellegrini’s official visit to Tashkent, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Uzbek presidential press service.

According to the statement, both countries will also work to increase Slovak exports to Uzbekistan, including rubber, auto components, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial goods. “To achieve this, both countries plan to hold national product exhibitions and open trade houses,” the press service noted.

The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen their strategic partnership, expand mutual trade and investment, and promote industrial cooperation projects in key sectors.

Particular emphasis was placed on digitalization and cybersecurity. The presidents agreed to consider establishing a joint cybersecurity monitoring center for the banking sector and to introduce modern cargo tracking systems to enhance trade efficiency.

The talks also covered plans to boost humanitarian and educational cooperation, including the organization of a Rectors’ Forum in Bratislava in 2026, joint tourism exhibitions, and reciprocal tourism days. Both sides underscored the importance of ensuring well-managed and mutually beneficial labor migration between the two countries.
